Alexis Jordan rose to fame in 2006 when she appeared as a contestant on 'America’s Got Talent.' However, being eliminated didn’t stop Alexis from pursuing her dream, and after posting a series of videos on YouTube, she was snapped up Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation. Her success has soared since. Her debut single ‘Happiness’ entered the top five on both sides of the Atlantic and has become one of the most popular songs of the year. Alexis Jordan 'wrote first song aged 9'
Alexis Jordan's first ever song was based on "love notes" she wrote for boys at school.
The Hush Hush singer - who shot to fame after appearing on the first series of America's Got Talent in 2006 - explained she has been writing songs at an early age, when her favourite subject was boys in her class at school.
She said: "I started writing when I was about nine. It was a love song, you write notes to the boys in class and you switch notes and the teachers catch you - stuff like that."
The 19-year-old singer admitted after being "hungry" for fame from a young age, she isn't taking her success in the music industry for granted.
Alexis added to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle newspaper: "Looking back I am the same now as I always was, just wanting my dreams to happen. I'm really grateful to be doing it.
"When I was younger I was so hungry for it and I still am. I am the kind of person who keeps it close to their heart that this isn't a joke - this is my life."

Alexis Jordan says she's in regular contact with mentor Jay-Z, although sometimes it "feels like a dream" to speak to him and be part of his Roc Nation label.
The 19-year-old Happiness singer first found fame in America's Got Talent and released her debut album in February.
Jordan kicks off her UK tour in Hull on 10 June and it finishes in Newcastle on 7 July.

Alexis Jordan and The Feeling among line-up for poptastic Scottish festival
Glasgow pop festival In:Demand Live, which takes place in June at the SECC, has confirmed a clutch of top chart acts for this year’s line-up including Alexis Jordan, The Feeling, Example and Wretch 32.
Glasgow pop festival In:Demand Live, which takes place in June at the SECC, has confirmed a clutch of top chart acts for this year’s line-up including Alexis Jordan, The Feeling, Example and Wretch 32.
The show – which last year featured Alexandra Burke, The Script, JLS and Diana Vickers – takes place at the SECC, Glasgow on Saturday June 18 from 2pm until 6.30pm.
Confirmed today this 2011 event is a clutch of seven top chart acts: Alexis Jordan, The Feeling, Example, Wretch 32, Wonderland, Her Majesty and the Wolves and Yasmin.
At just 18 Alexis Jordanwas signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation/Star Roc label by the man himself and has since enjoyed worldwide success with singles Happiness and Good Girl.

Roc Nation artist Alexis Jordan performed her catchy single "Happiness" on the Dutch X Factor on Friday (April 22nd) - The "America's Got Talent" export is steadily conquering the European music charts - First scoaring with "Happiness" a Top 3 hit in the UK, getting into the Top 10 in Ireland, peaking at #1 in Norway and most recently reigning too Holland's Hot 100 Chart with the Stargate-produced number.
For this reason, the Jay-Z protege, hit the stage at the Dutch edition of 'The X Factor' via RTL4 this week to celebrate this new conquest. Nice performance! She sounded good in the verses, she's got a HOT voice! But...what's with the outfit? I think this is the first time I see an artist performing at a big TV show in jeans. In any case, Alexis' new single ""Good Girl" was released earlier this year in the UK where it entered the Top 10 as well. We'll see if the rest Europe also likes this new Alexis tune.

Alexis Jordan says Tinie Tempah is a gentleman
It looks like Alexis Jordan has been spending an increasing amount of time in the UK and now she has her eye on a few of our artists. One young man in particular is platinum-selling Tinie Tempah.
When the two recently met, U.S. singer Alexis said that he acted as the perfect gentleman. "I love Tinie Tempah, his music is so awesome. I love the way he does dance music, but then his rapping is also awesome. I met him recently and he was a gentleman."
Alexis, who has enjoyed UK chart success with debut single 'Happiness', reveals that there is another UK rapper who was surprisingly well-mannered.
The teen also added: "So was Chipmunk actually, I was surprised by that because his music is so hardcore!"
We're sure Chipmunk will be happy to hear that, as TaleTela recently reported that he thought Alexis was a "hottie".
The 17-year-old singer also thinks that Katy B, Professor Green and Adele are "amazing." She also revealed that she would like the "longevity" of Mariah Carey because "she's been on the top of her game since she was my age until now, which is really amazing."
It's going to be a busy summer for Alexis, as it was recently confirmed that she will be embarking on a small UK tour.

Alexis Jordan is one of Jay-Z's newest artists signed to Roc Nation and her voice is just as refreshing as her acting debut in Sprite's Refreshing Films festival. Alexis is a 19-year-old beauty from South Carolina and she's a self-proclaimed "good girl with bad girl swag."
She also doesn't mind being the cute, smart girl either. If you're a bad boy, you may want to think twice before stepping to Alexis, because she enjoys a smart nerdy guy who she can engage in intelluctual conversations with.
Alexis shows off her acting skills in the Sprite Refreshing Film as "Swift Justice," a superheroine. Alexis took a quick break from the film set to speak with GlobalGrind about her musical inspirations and of course, Jay-Z. Also, Alexis just announced her tour with JLS.

Alexis Jordan: It's going really great. It's something that I'm happy to be a part of.
You're playing a super hero in the short film, if you could have any super power what would it be?
Okay, you might think this is weird, but have you ever seen that "Jumper" movie, where you can jump anywhere around the world? Well, that would be my super power.

Alexis Talks About New Single Hush Hush
Alexis Jordan caused a bit of a stir when she arrived on the music scene late last year when she released pulsing dance hit Happiness.
Now she is releasing a third single from her debut self-titled album – Hush Hush.
Another dancefloor song, the track is available to buy already from her album, but a remix version of the song will be released on EP on 8th May, and will include a number of mixes by Tom Neville, Cahil and Full Intention that will no doubt find their way into clubs and pubs around the country at first opportunity.
Many reviewers picked out the song as a standout of her album so it only seems right that she should release it for non-fans, while adding a few extra versions for those already familiar with the sure-fire hit.

Alexis Supporting JLS
JLS have cranked up the action still further and have invited 16 yr old American “Good Girl”, Alexis Jordan to open the show. When rapper Jay Z walked in unexpectedly and heard the then unknown Alexis recording a demo in a New York studio, he was so impressed he immediately signed her. His belief in Alexis and her ability to deliver a tune has paid immediate dividends for his Roc Nation label. Her debut single, “Happiness” topped the US Hot Club chart and her second single “Good Girl” made its debut at number two in the UK charts. The catchy song is still riding high and into its sixth week in the list of the nation’s top tracks. Her self-titled debut album made it into the number nine in the UK Album charts.

Alexis Jordan, Professor Green and Katy B are getting ready to mix music and fashion.
They've all be invited to perform on Thursday, April 14th at an exclusive party at Shoreditch’s Village Underground.
Hosted by Dutch supermodel Lara Stone – the current face of Calvin Klein – the event will feature a guest list of top fashion and music celebrities.
The exclusive MTV PUSH series of parties, in partnership with ck one, will then party-hop to other cities across the globe, providing unforgettable nights out along the way.
Each MTV PUSH party will feature a replica of the “ck one box,” which will allow party-goers and budding fashionistas to be filmed and star in their very own viral ck one video, which could be featured at ckone.com.
Professor Green said, “MTV were big supporters last year, so I was delighted to be asked to be a part of this PUSH party. I really enjoy these intimate shows as you can connect with and get a vibe off the audience.”

Good Girl's Alexis Jordan here for a good time
ALEXIS Jordan has told of her Happiness of being in Melbourne for the first time.
The 18-year-old South Carolina singer and Beyonce doppelganger is Down Under before releasing her second single Good Girl.
"I love it (Australia). I've been spoiled rotten. This weekend has been amazing," she said.
Jordan, who arrived in Melbourne on Sunday afternoon, is hoping to see some native wildlife and eat some Tim Tams before leaving tomorrow.
And although she was planning on catching up with gal pal Rihanna, fans shouldn't plan on the two doing a duet any time soon.
"I want to be selfish for my fans. When you collaborate then you have to share with someone and I don't feel like that right now," she said.

Alexis Jordan makes sure she tells her mother all about her life – because Beyoncé Knowles told her to.
The 18-year-old star found fame after appearing on the first season on America's Got Talent in 2006. She didn’t win, but after taking part she decided to promote herself on video sharing website YouTube, resulting in Jay-Z and production group Stargate signing her to their label Star Roc/Roc Nation.
The rapper has given Alexis a lot of tips, and she has also grown close to his superstar wife Beyoncé.
“Yes. I can’t lie – I talk to her a lot,” she said. “When Jay was touring in America, I would sit next to B and she told me, ‘Always talk to your mother,’ and I took that advice.”
Jay-Z has also spent a lot of time giving Alexis words of advice. He also mentored Rihanna when she started out, and likes to make sure the young musicians he nurtures can cope with being in the spotlight.
“He’s a boss,” she told Look. “He’s given me tips but I can’t tell you what he said – I keep our conversations private.”

Watch out Hollywood! There's a new star in town! Roc Nation's "good girl" Alexis Jordan has added acting to her resume. Alexis will be acting in a short film directed by Chicago-area students who were selected to participate in Sprite's Refreshing Films program.
